The Following is the FAQs for Biodiesel and Its Plants :

Q. 1. Is Biodiesel Industry is feasible today in India?
Ans.
Yes, click the link for “Economical Feasibility” to get details. Repayment of the plant will be within 4 years time without calculating the benefits of CDM i.e. carbon credits. More ever only CDM benefits (which are calculated @ 1.8 crore per annum for next 21 years with current rate of Euro 10 - this rate is also expected to grow) will repay the whole bio diesel project. Recent Budget has excluded Biodiesel from Excise Duty.

Q. 2. Is any Biodiesel plant is working in India today?
Ans.
Yes, on small scale but not with appropriate technology.

Q. 3. Which are the technologies of Biodiesel processing?
Ans.
1. Batch Type 2. Semi continuos 3. Continuos

Q. 4. Which is the best and feasible technology?
Ans.
Every technology is having its “pro’s and con’s”. The small plants presently working in India are mostly of batch type. The problem of batch type is not getting proper yield, improper recovery, improper purification, large size of the plant, high labor requirement, etc. Another important point is that it can convert only specific oil into Biodiesel. It can not convert any type of oil into Biodiesel. All these problems are overcome by continuous processing technology.

Q. 5 what are the advantages of “Continuous Processing Technology”?

  • No separate plants required for making Pretreatment of oil, production of IP Grade Glycerin, solvent recovery, washing of Bio Diesel, etc. They are in-built.
  • Technology available with large capacity from 12 TPD to 1200 TPD
  • Almost Zero maintenance
  • Requires less space, almost 120 times smaller than conventional batch type plants
  • Minimum labor
  • Minimum power consumption
  • No waiting for electricity! Can run on Generator by using own Bio Diesel.
  • Skid Mounted Plant
  • Plug & run Plant. No erection time required
  • Can convert any type of oil into Bio Diesel
  • PLC SCADA operation
  • Effluent from the plant is reused by simple methods
  • High Recovery

Q. 6. Whether one should opt for Batch Type or Continuous Processing Technology?
Ans.
This is a difficult question for to answer. According to us, the Bio Diesel sector is a gold mine of future. People who wish to create Billions from Millions should opt for Continuous Processing Technology.

Q. 7. What about CDM benefits?
Ans.
The projects under CDM prefer Continuous Processing Technology for carbon credit benefit.

Q. 8. Any plant having all features of Continuous Processing Technology is producing a Bio Diesel in India today?
Ans.
Data not available of large capacity plants. M/S Jayex Biofuel Processing Technologies Pvt.Ltd. Pune have installed pilot plant with Continuous Processing Technology at Pune, Maharashtra (INDIA). The capacity of the plant is 50 ltrs per hour. It can convert any oil into biodiesel. The biodiesel produced by this plant is having ASTM equivalent specifications. The plant is in the process of CDM registration. Pretreatment of oil, production of IP Grade Glycerin, solvent recovery, washing of Bio Diesel, etc. are In-built in the plant. The plant is having PLC - SCADA operation. The plant needs only 1000 sq.ft. of space. It is a Skid Mounted Plant and Plug & run Plant which require No erection time.

Q. 9. Has anybody developed Continues Processing Technology in India?
Ans.
Yes, Jayex Biofuel Processing Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Pune has developed and it is available for Techno- Commercial Demonstration.

Q. 10. Whether finance is available?
Ans.
Finance is available for Continuous Processing Technology plant having capacity 30 TPD and above. As Biodiesel is potential CDM project, it is preferred as priority lending by Banks for finance.

Q. 11. What is difference between Ethanol & Biodiesel?
Ans.
This is a unique question. Ethanol is basically blended with Petrol. The percentages vary in different countries. In India Government is planning for 5% blending of Ethanol with petrol. In Brazil the blending percentage is up to 20% and at some points 30% also. Ethanol may not be 100% replacement of petrol. On the contrary, Biodiesel BD- 100 is total replacement of diesel. One can use 100% Biodiesel replacing diesel which is not possible in the case of Ethanol & Petrol.

Q. 12. What is the duration i.e. time span required for 30 TPD continuous processing Biodiesel plant to get erected and installed on turn key basis?
Ans.
It will require @ 8 to 9 months time provided all other conditions are satisfactory in normal conditions.
